Through the Screen is a short film produced in 2023 by IOM Indonesia and the Directorate for Protection of Citizens, Directorate General of Protocol and Consular Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs in collaboration with the Creative Goods Inc. (CGI). Directed by Iqbal Fadly, the film is based on real events of trafficking in persons cases in the online scam industry that are increasingly happening in Southeast Asia. Some of the victims ended up in trafficking and forced labor exploitation, with challenges to return home.
On this year’s World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, the film is launched online for wider public view. Watch the film to learn more about the signs and share it with your communities, so together, we could prevent and reduce the prevalence of trafficking. The film is made possible with the support from the Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration (PRM), Office of the International Migration, U.S Department of State through the Asia Regional Migration Program implemented by IOM.
