IOM's Community Stabilization programmes seek to provide assistance to governments and communities undergoing significant socio-economic and political changes during and following crises in order to (re)establish stability and security, prevent further forced migration, restore trust among community members, vulnerable populations and local authorities, and lay the foundations for durable solutions, lasting peace, and sustainable development.
In Indonesia, among other programmes, IOM has provided continued support to the Indonesian National Police's (INP) reform efforts to become a more democractic, professional, accountable, and effective institution. In particular, IOM has supported the INP in its community policing strategy, through which IOM has assisted the strengthening of partnerships between communities and the police to identify and resolve underlying causes of potential disorder and security.
