The AVRR is a key IOM global service in line with IOM’s mandate to promote humane and orderly migration that benefits migrants and society. In the past 10 years, the program has helped over 400,000 migrants to return safely to their countries of origin.
IOM Indonesia has been carrying out voluntary returns since 2000 and has helped more than 4,000 migrants’ voluntary return to about 30 different countries of origin.
IOM Indonesia provides the following AVRR assistance: (a) pre-departure assistance - counseling, medical assistance, transport assistance arrangement (including travel documentation), among others; (b) transportation assistance - departure assistance, escorts, pre-embarkation medical checks, medical escorts if needed, and other like services; and (c) post-arrival assistance - in close coordination with IOM offices in return countries, migrants reception, and health-related support. IOM Indonesia also provides reintegration grants to returning migrants.
